It is heartbreaking when a family asks for medical help.  They do not have the resources to see a doctor, much less purchase medications or pay for lab tests, x-rays, ultrasounds, etc.  Many needlessly suffer from ailments easily treated by antibiotics or pain medications.

This young child is malnourished and suffers from a skin infection.  The doctor has recommended NIDO milk $45 CAD per month; medications $207; appointment with dermatologist $140; and improved diet.  He is from a single parent family with 4 siblings.  The mother earns $11 per day when there is work.  This is not sufficient to provide adequate food and pay household expenses never mind meet medical needs.  The mother also needs medical care but has asked that any donations go to her son first.

There are many families with similar stories where seeking medical aid is just not a possibility.  The most vulnerable are young children and the elderly.

Too often, we have funds to send someone to the doctor but are then unable to fund needed tests or medication.  We desperately need to build our medical fund to better meet the critical needs of this vulnerable population.
